On 10 January 2026, in Than Pu Yar village (Kyainseikgyi township, Kawkareik district, Kayin state), a combined force of Karen National Liberation Army (KNU/KNLA) and its allies intercepted and attacked the Myanmar military column who were advancing to provide security for polling stations in the villages, near Thingan creek. During the attack, 6 military soldiers were killed. 6 fatalities.
