On 10 January 2026, AQAP militants ambushed and shot at 2 soldiers of the STC 2nd Support and Reinforcement Brigade on a motorcycle in Imbaqirah (Mudiyah, Abyan) resulting in the killing of 1 and the injury of the other STC soldier. The ambush was set at a side road in the district.
