On 10 January 2026, ENDF, Amhara regional riot police, and Kebele militia clashed with Fano near Finote Selam (Finote Selam town, West Gojam, Amhara), leading to the killings of forces on both sides. The armed clash also resulted in the wounding of an unspecified number of civilians. The clash started when state security forces mobilized from the Goref and Hamusit areas and launched an attack in the morning, which intensified with Fano's counteroffensive.
