In Phyu Township, Bago Region, resistance forces attacked a junta outpost stationed on the Sittaung River bridge along the Mone–Oatphat road, killing two soldiers, according to a member of the Falcons Sone Yay (Local PDF) who spoke to Yangon Khit Thit News Agency.

The attack occurred around 8 a.m. on January 29. Resistance snipers targeted junta soldiers who were resting and drying their clothes near the checkpoint on the bridge. Two soldiers were reportedly killed instantly, while the resistance fighters withdrew safely without casualties.
