A loud bang was heard in Frölunda on Thursday evening and a car caught fire. The National Bomb Squad was called to the scene to investigate the bang, and residents in the area were evacuated at an early stage.
The alarm about an explosion outside in Frölunda, Gothenburg, came in at 11:45 p.m. on Thursday evening. Rescue services and police responded at the same time as the national bomb disposal unit was alerted.
A car was on fire at the scene and residents in the area were evacuated at an early stage. Initially, it was suspected that the fire was started by an explosion, but this was not the case.
– The National Bomb Protection Service was able to determine that the fire was not started by any explosive substance, but we still do not know how it started, says Christian Brattgård, the police's press spokesman on Friday morning.
What caused the explosions is still unclear.
There was only material damage at the site, which was cordoned off.
No one has been arrested yet. The suspects are charged with public danger and crimes against flammable and explosive goods.
