Police arrest suspect with 954 pieces of suspected explosives in Zamfara

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Taskforce on Illegal Mining have arrested a 38-year-old man in Abuja for unlawful possession of suspected explosive materials.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the arrest was made on Jan. 27 at about 4:15 p.m., following credible and actionable intelligence.
According to the source, the suspect, Mustapha Mohammad, was intercepted while driving a Toyota Corolla car with registration number KUJ 933 EJ.
“A search conducted on the suspect and the vehicle led to the recovery of 954 pieces of suspected explosive materials concealed in polyethylene bags,” the source said.
The sources added that the recovered items were believed to be intended for use by miscreants to cause public disturbance and breach of peace.
“The suspect is currently in custody, and the exhibits have been secured as evidence.
“Investigation is ongoing to determine the source, destination and intended use of the recovered materials, as well as to identify other possible accomplices,” the source added.
Police reassured members of the public of its commitment to preventing the proliferation of illegal explosives and safeguarding lives and property across the country.
