Myinchan District Battalion 9 announced today that nearly 20 junta soldiers, including one major, were killed during clashes between Myinchan Township and Nyaung-U Kyi Township in Mandalay Region.

The battalion ambushed a junta column advancing between Myinchan town and Nyaung-U Kyi Township on January 20.

According to their statement, up to seven soldiers were killed, others were wounded, and some Cha-Ya grenades along with related equipment were seized.

In a similar operation, they ambushed and cut off another junta column between Patar Village and Le Ain Tan Village west of Myinchan Township. Their statement reported 15 junta deaths in that attack, including one major.

A Battalion 9 spokesperson said that while the total junta death toll exceeded 20 across the day's fighting, they eyewitness-confirmed 15 bodies. Two of their own comrades were killed and 14 others wounded.
