CBRN event in Cameroon on Fri 24th October 2025
24th October 2025
Two people were killed and dozens arrested as protests erupted in Cameroon’s capital, Yaoundé, over election fraud. Security forces used tear gas to disperse crowds in Yaoundé and Garoua after opposition candidate Issa Tchiroma Bakary declared victory in the country’s fiercely contested vote. The authorities are also significantly slowing down and shutting down the internet in some areas of the country. President Paul Biya, who has ruled for 43 years, proclaimed himself the winner. If he remains in power, the 92-year-old leader will govern Cameroon until at least his 100th birthday.
