On January 22, a fresh encounter broke out between Security Forces (SFs) and terrorists during an ongoing search operation in Singhpora in Kishtwar District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), reports The Hindu. A fresh contact was established in the dense forests of Singhpora, where heavy firing between the two sides was underway at the time of last reports. The operation was launched on January 18 in Sonnar village near Mandral-Singhpora in the Chatroo belt, following intelligence inputs about terrorist presence. An earlier gunfight during the operation resulted in the martyrdom of one paratrooper and injuries to seven other soldiers, primarily due to a grenade attack.|On January 21, Additional Army troops were inducted into the higher reaches of Kishtwar District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on the fourth day of an ongoing search operation, reports Daily Excelsior. The operation focused on Sonnar, Mandral-Singhpora and adjoining areas in the Chatroo belt in Kishtawar.
