Grenade event in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kulachi, Dera Ismail Khan District area, Pakistan on Sun 18th January 2026

One terrorist was killed while two other terrorists were injured as Police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) carried out an intelligence based operation (IBO) in Kulachi area of Dera Ismail Khan District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on January 18, reports The Express Tribune. The IBO was launched following reports of the presence of terrorists in Kulachi and its surrounding areas. The law enforcement personnel came under fire when the suspects opened fire upon spotting the Police party, triggering a fierce exchange. As a result of the shootout, one terrorist was killed while two others sustained injuries. A Police constable also suffered minor injuries during the encounter. The killed terrorist was involved in several attacks on Police and targeted killings, including an incident at the Khatti Check Post. A cache of weapons and ammunition, including hand grenades, along with a motorcycle, was recovered from the terrorist’s possession.
