On January 18, Taliban’s provincial police command in Maidan Wardak stated that a child was killed and three others were injured when an unexploded landmine detonated in the Puladkhana area of Maidan Shahr, the capital of Maidan Wardak Province, reports 8am Media. Taliban provincial police said the explosion occurred when several young girls were collecting firewood on a mountainside. Local residents rushed the injured children to a hospital in Maidan Shahr. Remnants of war, including unexploded ordnance left over from Afghanistan’s decades-long conflicts, continue to claim the lives of children from time to time in various parts of the country.
