Other MoA event in Bandarban, Janali Para of Nayapara Union, Alikadam Sub-District area, Bangladesh on Sat 17th January 2026

On January 17, at least 18 members of the Mro ethnic minority were injured during an attack in Janali Para of Nayapara Union, Alikadam Upazila in Bandarban District, reportedly orchestrated by Rohingyas and settlers, reports Narinjara News. Local sources said Rohingyas assaulted villagers with homemade weapons after the villagers detained a Rohingya man identified as Jafar Alam for stealing a banana in Janali Para. The people who were hurt include Dangya Mro (52 years old), Amar Tripura (50 years old), Prekikya Mro (27 years old), Ongsong Mro (30 years old), Kotong Mro (50 years old), Ngangwai Mro (27 years old), Langching Mro (30 years old), and Menru Mro (40 years old). All individuals reside in Janali Para within the Nayapara Union of Alikadam Township. The identities of the remaining injured persons are currently not known.
