In Goris, during a conflict between relatives, a grenade exploded, killing two people and hospitalizing another. Among the dead was the driver of Goris Mayor Arushanyan.On January 25, an armed incident occurred in Goris. Two people were killed and another was injured in a grenade explosion.According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the incident occurred near the cemetery in the Tozkap section. During a domestic dispute, a grenade exploded in the hands of 45-year-old Varuzhan Yolyan. Varuzhan and 38-year-old Armen Yolyan died instantly, and a 30-year-old Goris resident nearby was injured and hospitalized, News.am reports.Armen Yolyan was the driver for Goris Mayor Arush Arushanyan. He had been in conflict with Varuzhan Yolyan for many years over their grandfather's house. The case went to court, but the parties did not receive a decision. A fight broke out, and then a grenade was detonated.A criminal case has been opened under Articles 155 (murder, two counts), 44-155 (attempted murder), and 335 (illegal trafficking of firearms, their main components, and ammunition) of the Armenian Criminal Code.Previously, "Caucasian Knot" reported that Volodya Grigoryan, who was elected head of the enlarged Parakar community (which includes Merdzavan) from the opposition Unity bloc, was shot and killed last September in the village of Merdzavan in the Armavir region. Grigoryan's friend, police officer Karen Abrahamyan, was also killed. Security forces have detained two suspects. Following this, protests were held repeatedly in Merdzavan demanding that the families of the murder suspects leave the community.
