The Arakan Army (AA) reported that military forces carried out an airstrike on displaced civilians in Kyaukphyu Township, Rakhine State, killing four people — including an 81‑year‑old woman — and injuring nine others, among them a 9‑month‑old infant.
At around 12:55 and 12:58 p.m. on January 24, two military drones dropped bombs on displaced civilians sheltering near a high school in Mu Ywain village, in Zin Chaung area of Kyaukphyu Township. The victims included Daw Phyu Nu Ma, 81, and U Hme Daung, 56, who were originally from Thain Chaung village and had been seeking refuge at the site.
Later the same afternoon, at around 4:40 p.m., the military sent two more drones to bomb Mu Ywain village again. At 5:20 p.m., a jet fighter also dropped bombs on both Mu Ywain and Kone Baw villages.
