According to Captain Mike Htwe, leader of the Myingyan Black Tiger (MBT) resistance force, clashes in Myingyan and Nyaung Htoe Gyi Townships, Mandalay Region, resulted in the deaths of 22 junta soldiers, while two members of the resistance were also killed.

Around 7 a.m. on January 20, joint People’s Defense Forces ambushed a junta column advancing between Myingyan and Nyaung Htoe Gyi. The battle lasted throughout the day until 6 p.m., killing at least seven junta soldiers and injuring many more. Resistance forces also seized ammunition and some related equipment. During the fighting, the regime carried out air support strikes using one jet fighter and one Mi‑35 helicopter.
