SAA event in Magway Region, Taungdwingyi Township area, Myanmar on Wed 21st January 2026
21st January 2026
A spokesperson from the Magway Taungdwingyi Special Guerrilla Force told Yangon Khit Thit News that a couple affiliated with the military-backed Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) were shot and killed in Taungdwingyi Township, Magway Region, after putting up a party sign that read “Come on, if the PDFs dare.”
On the evening of January 21, resistance fighters attacked the house of Min Zay and his wife Hla Kyi, both USDP members and military informants living in Talot Kone village, Taungdwingyi Township. The couple were shot dead on the spot.
According to the guerrilla force, the couple had erected a USDP signboard in front of their home, built a ballot station where villagers were coerced into voting, and threatened to arrest those who refused. They had also publicly taunted the local resistance by saying, “If the PDFs dare, come here.” During the post-coup period, they reportedly proclaimed, “Our time has come,” confiscated village funds, and overcharged residents for electricity meter fees — prompting the resistance’s targeted attack.
