On 9 January 2026, between Kywe Pwe and Nyaung Chay Htauk villages (coded as Nyaung Chay Htauk) (Oktwin township, Taungoo district, Bago-East region), the local resistance groups attacked an outpost of the Myanmar military near the Yangon-Mandalay railway road at around 6:00 am. The two sides exchanged fire using weapons during the clash. The railway road was interrupted, and some train wagons were set on fire. Casualties unknown.
