On 9 January 2026, in Belem (Para), military police officers clashed with and killed a suspected drug trafficker during an operation in the Pratinha II neighborhood. Accounts diverged regarding the circumstances of the event: the police version indicates that the suspect reacted to the approach and exchanged gunfire, while witnesses stated that he was resting in a hammock outside the residence when he was shot. A pistol was seized at the scene. The suspect had an extensive criminal record, including involvement with organized crime, drug trafficking, homicide, robberies, and attacks against police officers. 1 fatality.
