On 9 January 2026, in Santa Maria (Rio Grande do Sul), military police officers clashed with four suspected drug traffickers during a vehicle pursuit in the Juscelino Kubitschek neighborhood. The suspects were arrested, and police seized drugs and equipment linked to trafficking, including 85 portions of marijuana, 103 cocaine packages, rolling papers, a precision scale, four mobile phones, a notebook, and the vehicle used in the escape. The firearm used during the shooting was not recovered. There were no fatalities.
