On 9 January 2026, in Mossoro (Rio Grande do Norte), four unidentified armed suspects shot and killed a woman. The suspects approached the victim and her husband and fired over 100 times against them, escaping afterwards. The victim's husband, who was wearing an electronic monitoring anklet (charges unspecified), managed to escape. A third person was injured by stray bullets. Police are investigating if the attack was motivated by drug trafficking disputes and her husband's police record. The authorship and motivations are unknown. 1 fatality.
