On 9 January 2026, in Maicao (La Guajira), unidentified armed assailants arrived in a vehicle, got out, and opened fire on a group of people gathered in the Altos del Parriantal neighborhood, killing five men and injuring two others. There is no information on the identity or motives of the perpetrators, but there is presence in the area of the ELN, the Gulf Clan, and local gangs. 5 fatalities.
