On 8 January 2026, an armed clash broke out between TPNPB and the Indonesian military forces in the Yuguru district (Nduga regency, Highland Papua province). A soldier died. The rebels also confiscated a long-barreled weapon, five loaded magazines, and a satellite communication device from the military.
