On 8 January 2026, in Thar Yar Kone town (Kyauktaga township, Bago district, Bago-East region), a combined force of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNU/KNLA) and the local people's defense force attacked an outpost of the Myanmar military near a railway bridge. The combined force seized 2 guns. A military soldier was killed and another was injured. 1 fatality.
