On 8 January 2026, near U Gin village (Kyaukpyu township, Kyaukpyu district, Rakhine state), the Arakan Army (ULA/AA) attacked a column of about 100 Myanmar military soldiers in the evening. Democratic Voice of Burma reported that 10 military soldiers were killed while Narinjara News reported that about 50 military soldiers were killed. The Myanmar military also conducted airstrikes and dropped a 500-pound bomb during the armed clash. The navy also fired heavy weapons. Fatalities coded as 10, using the lowest estimate.
