On 8 January 2026, an IRG joint security campaign composed of 6 crews and headed by the Patrol and Road Security Police (coded as generic IRG police forces) clashed with an unidentified armed group near the Bajdar area in Zinjibar city (Zingibar, Abyan). The reason behind the clashes was the fact that the armed group had intercepted and took over a car belonging to an international demining NGO earlier in the day (coded as a separate event). There were no casualties. The armed group fled the scene during the clashes leaving the car behind.
