On 8 January 2026, in Cheesefield, Saint Catherine, police forces shot and killed a farmer man as they conducted a search warrant looking for illegal weapons and wanted individuals at his home. According to the officers, they opened fire after the now deceased pointed a firearm at their direction. A revolver was seized. The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) launched an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the killing. 1 fatality.
