SAA event in Michoacan de Ocampo, Cuaracurio area, Mexico on Thu 8th January 2026
8th January 2026
Around 8 January 2026 (as reported), near Cuaracurio, Michoacan de Ocampo (coded to capital Cuitzeo del Porvenir), four men, three of whom were minors, were killed and their bodies were found dismembered inside ten plastic sacks near a textile center known as Texti-Cuitzeo on the Morelia-Salamanca highway. There were shell casings and Molotov cocktails located at the scene, one of which had not exploded. Unknown armed individuals shot and set fire to at seven stores and damaged the facades of the shops. Officers are not ruling out a connection between the discovery of the bodies and setting fire to the stores. Videos surfaced showing three people abandoning the bags with the human remains and then fleeing. Investigations are linking the attack to the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel, after dried roses were found at the scene, which is a common practice for the cartel. 4 fatalities.
