On 7 January 2026, near 6 Maing village (Tanintharyi township, Myeik district, Tanintharyi region), fighting broke out between the advancing Myanmar military troops and the combined troops of the People's Defense Force - Myeik District Battalion - 2, Battalion - 3 and the Karen National Liberation Army. The armed clash lasted around 30 minutes and both sides exchanged fire with small and heavy weapons. 2 military soldiers were killed and 4 military soldiers were severely injured. 2 fatalities.
