On 7 January 2026, in Samborondon (Samborondon, Guayas),several armed members of Chone GutaClan, which is part of Los Chone Killers on a motorcycle shot and killed a father and his teenage son in El Salvador sector (drive-by). The perpetrators then forcefully entered their home and killed two more sons of the main target. The main target had a prior criminal record for drug trafficking, and a surviving family member mentioned that they had been threatened by the criminal group, for refusing to join them. In 2020, three other members of the family were killed by the same gang. Authorities identified the perpetrators, and are currently seeking to arrest them. 4 fatalities.
