On 7 January 2026, in Guayaquil - Tarqui (Guayas), two unidentified armed assailants shot and killed two men in Martha de Roldos neighborhood. The perpetrators fired at close range, killing a Venezuelan car washer and a Colombian motorcyclist, the latter believed to be the primary target. A third person was injured by stray bullets. Police indicate the attack is linked to a territorial dispute tied to extortion and illegal lending. 2 fatalities.
