On 7 January 2026, in Lajeado (Tocantins), military police officers clashed with and killed a fugitive man during an attempted vehicle stop on a dirt road providing access to a quarry. He had multiple outstanding arrest warrants for homicide in Para and was also sought in connection with killings in Colombia, in addition to prior records for attempted homicide, firearms offenses, and drug trafficking. A pistol and the vehicle used by the suspect were seized. 1 fatality.
