On 6 January 2026, in Kan Hpyu village (Wetlet township, Shwebo district, Sagaing region), a combined force of the People's Defense Force - Madaya (PaKaPha) and the People's Defense Force - Shwebo District Battalion 18 attacked Myanmar military forces that had raped village residents on the same day (coded separately). The Myanmar military received fire support from armored vessels using 50-caliber machine guns, heavy artillery, and snipers positioned on a strategic hilltop. During the clash, 15 Myanmar military soldiers and 7 members of the combined resistance force were killed. 22 fatalities.
