On 6 January 2026, in Ipixuna do Para (Para), drug traffickers on a motorcycle opened fire, in a drive-by shooting, at a beverage distributor as part of an attempted extortion after the owner refused to make illicit payments. Subsequent police operations led to the arrest of six suspects and the detention of one minor, with seizures including firearms, drugs (oxy and marijuana), mobile phones, drug-packaging materials, and other items linked to drug trafficking. There were no fatalities.
