On 6 January 2026, near Corocito (Arauca), suspected members of an unidentified armed group shot and killed a Venezuelan man who they had abducted two weeks earlier in Venezuela (coded separately). According to witnesses, the perpetrators and the victim were traveling a vehicle along the Tame - Fortul road when he was forced out and shot in the chest before the assailants fled. There is no further information on the identity of the perpetrators, but there is presence in the area of the ELN and FARC dissident groups. 1 fatality.
