On 6 January 2026, in Niteroi - North (Rio de Janeiro), a man was shot in the head and killed at a bus stop in the Maritimos community, in the Barreto neighborhood. The victim had been considered a fugitive since 2022. The residents' association claimed that he was killed by a shot fired by military police officers; the military police carried out a major operation against drug trafficking in the region on the same day (coded separately), but denies having taken action at the scene at the time of the incident. 1 fatality.
