On 6 January 2026, a landmine detonated in Al Kaim district (coded as Al Qaim city, Al Anbar), killing a member of the Popular Mobilization Forces who was directing engineering personnel to an old landmine site left by ISIL militants during their control of the area. Security forces closed all roads leading to the site as a precautionary measure and searched the area. 1 fatality.
