On 6 January 2026, suspected Red and Black cult militias (likely the Black Axe and Eiye, given past confrontations and their status as the rival groups in the area) clashed in a supremacy contest in Oturkpo (Otukpo, Benue), killing 1 member. The clash escalated and spread to three other locations (coded separately).
