On 5 January 2026, suspected Kuki assailants from the Kangvai area exploded 2 suspected IEDs in a succession at an abandoned house belonging to a Meitei IDP at Nganukon Ward No 8 in the Saiton Nganukon area of Saiton village (Bishnupur, Manipur) amidst ongoing violence between Meitei and Tribal communities in the state. A second explosion went off around 200 meters away from the abandoned house leaving 2 persons from the Meitei community with splinter injuries.
