On 5 January 2026, in Kyauk Pyin Kan village (Nyaung-U township, Nyaung-U district, Mandalay region), the Myanmar military fired heavy weapons which fell and exploded in the village, injuring two men. One of them who was unable to flee due to a wound in his thigh was captured by the military troops. He was then tortured with a knife and killed.
