On 5 January 2026, Syrian authorities accused QSD forces of targeting a Syrian police-affiliated checkpoint near Dayr Hafir town with drones, injuring three Syrian soldiers and three civilians in a vehicle nearby and damaging two Syrian army vehicles, which QSD denied. QSD's attack on the checkpoint is believed to be in retaliation for the arrest of eight individuals who are former Assad regime members who were crossing into QSD areas one day prior. There were no fatalities.
