Projectile event in Marib, Al Thanyiah area, Yemen on Mon 5th January 2026

On 5 January 2026, al-Arada and Fujayh tribesmen, as well as Islah-affiliated IRG forces attacked, using medium and heavy weapons, a camp belonging to IRG forces, likely from the 1st Division of the Emergency Forces, in Al Thanyiah (Marib, Marib). In response, Saudi forces (coded under ORH) conducted 1 strike against the attacking forces. According to some sources, the reason behind the strike was to stop the force from advancing towards Arin military camp and protect it from looting. 20 IRG soldiers from the camp were killed and injured as a result of the attack. Casualties unknown as a result of the Saudi strike on the side of the tribesmen and Islah-affiliated forces, and coded as 0 following the most conservative estimate. Unspecified fatalities coded as at least 10 (half of 20).
