On 5 January 2026, SPLM/A-IO shelled an SSPDF barracks in Burebiey, Jikmir Payam (location coded to Jikmir, the nearest known location in Luakpiny/Nasir County, Upper Nile State). The shelling was in response to earlier shelling directed at SPLM/A-IO positions. There were no casualties.
