On 5 January 2026, in Sao Goncalo - Sete Pontes (Rio de Janeiro), the military police exchanged fire with unidentified armed men during an attempted cargo theft in the Engenho Pequeno neighborhood. The armed men also threw a grenade. The region is dominated by drug traffickers. During the shooting, the truck's driver was shot and injured. There were no fatalities.
