On 5 January 2026, armed actors (likely Meskan ethnic militia, from past events, and as the attack was committed in the context of a dispute over admin border) shot and killed 2 (members of the same family) and wounded 2 ethnic Mareko civilians in Dida Midore Kebele (Mareko, Guraghe, Central Ethiopia). The attack was preceded by the killings of 3 ethnic Meskan civilians in Inseno on 4 January 2026 (coded separately).
