On 5 January 2026, in the morning, JNIM militants attacked the mine in the vicinity of Bougouni (Bougouni, Bougouni, Sikasso), abducting three workers and looting three vehicles. Casualties unknown. The day before, the militants had destroyed the vehicle of a driver of the same mine after he refused to stop at a checkpoint (coded separately).
