On 4 January 2026, between Loikaw and Demoso townships (coded as Loikaw) (Loikaw district, Kayah state), local people's defense forces attacked the Myanmar military soldiers who came to repair electric poles that had been destroyed by heavy weapons during armed clashes since February 2022. The local PDF troops attacked the military soldiers with snipers. 4 military soldiers were killed. 4 fatalities.
