On 4 January 2026, an IED planted by Al Shabaab exploded, targeting government soldiers (SNA) and Hawiye-Gaaljecel clan militia at a tea shop in Yaaq Biri Weyne village (Wanla Weyn, Lower Shabelle). 3 were killed, including 2 clan militia, a civilian, and 3 were injured. Al Shabaab claimed responsibility.
