On 4 January 2026, Joint Forces from the SPLM/A-IO and SSPDF clashed at the UNMISS Rubkona Protection of Civilians site/Bentiu PoC site in Rubkona Payam (Rubkona, Unity). The incident created tension at the camp. The Minister of Information in Unity State later claimed that normalcy was restored after SSPDF repelled the IO members, some of whom fled or were captured. Casualties unknown.
