On 4 January 2026, in Guayaquil - Tarqui (Guayas), the police pursued and killed two armed teenagers in the Trinidad de Dios cooperative, Nueva Prosperina district. The officers were patrolling the area when they noticed the teenagers riding a motorcycle and thought they had a suspicious attitude. Upon noticing police presence, they fled. The police pursued them, and one of the teenagers took out an object similar to a firearm and shot at the officers. The police opened fire on them. One of them was killed. 1 fatality.
