On 4 January 2026, in Parauapebas (Para), military police officers clashed with and killed two prison escapees in a wooded area in the Popular II neighborhood. Police seized an improvised 20-gauge shotgun, a pistol, multiple rounds of ammunition, and a bar of marijuana weighing approximately 424 grams at the scene. 2 fatalities.
